Investigations are being conducted as to the suitability for a wind farm at a second plot of land south of St Andrews.
West Coast Energy has confirmed that it is carrying out surveys at South Kinaldy, less than four miles from where St Andrews University is considering erecting turbines at Upper Kenly.
Both West Coast Energy and the university have now submitted planning applications seeking permission for the erection of anemometer masts which will be used to assess wind speed.
