Smaller loads shift turbine transit plan

BELFAST — A summer-long transit of trucks loaded with wind turbine components may play out differently than expected after it was determined that most of the loads are smaller than anticipated.
Trucks traveling from Mack Point cargo facility in Searsport to a planned 44-turbine development by TransCanada in Western Maine will still pass through Belfast, following Route 1 south to Route 3.
However, a planned detour to avoid the low High Street and Waldo Avenue overpasses will no longer be necessary . . .
